this is what i have. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=201487&pcount=&Product_Id=104991

i notice it is 10/100 but my tivo is transfering at 450k/s is there a way for me to obtain higher speed with this kind of usb adaptor?

edit.
apparently the only way to obtain higher speed is to use usb2.0 . i found a thread about it here
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38167 but where is the instaltion instruction???

It's a usb 1.1 device. You might be able to do a little better (up to 800k/s) with some tuning effort, but you really want a usb 2 device if you want better performance. Recommendations: link (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=199796#post199796)

{edit: installation instructions are in post #4 of the thread you referenced, but step0 is to go buy a usb2 device The drivers in that thread will not work with your belkin device.}

You should probably go find a good linux tutorial on file operations if you plan to do much hacking work on your TiVo.but out of curiosity how do i tweak my current usb adaptor to get 800k/s??No idea, but that's the performance level other people have reported with usb 1.1 devices.
