I have been reading a lot and I think I am close to figuring it out. Next step is to actually do it and find out how wrong I really am. :)
I am just talking about stand alone TIVO's. It looks the older series 1's are open to just about anything. The first series 2's are hackable - Moteable, Killinitird, etc. These are the models with the black faces if I am correct here? The latest models (aka 2.5, silver, night-light) require a chip to be yanked, cleaned and burned and put back in. If I am correct here, I think a Series 2 (not 2.5) will be the right purchase for me and 200gig HD will be close behind it.
Looking forward to using some of my Linux skills...
