I'm having some trouble getting the tivotools .tar file into my tivo. I got the networking (cachecard) working great (as I can telnet to it) but when i try to do an http_get off the very machine im telnetting from, the tivo reports connection refused. I know for fact that my web server is running. Any ideas?

[root@mail html]# netstat -an | grep \:80
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
[root@mail html]# telnet 192.168.0.9
Trying 192.168.0.9...

bash-2.02# cd /tivotools
bash-2.02# cd /tivo-bin/
bash-2.02# http_get -T 0 -C 0 -D . -U http://192.168.0.1/tivotools.tar
connect failed, reason = Connection refused

Include the port as part of the -U flag:

http_get -T 0 -C 0 -D . -U http://192.168.0.1:80/tivotools.tar

Assuming your webserver is running on port 80.

I got the files in through the ftpd, but now I hang my head in syntactical shame.

BTW, can anyone point me to where i could find the basic utilities for series 1? (ps, ls, grep......) All I can find are series 2 files.

Thanks in advance =)

the Jenkin's "how-to" guide includes an .iso image that includes those tools for series 1 - thats where I got mine. (google for Jenkins Tivo i'm sure it'll come up)

you don't need to burn it on a CD to get to the files, WinRAR can open an .ISO cd image and let you extract individual files.

Jenkin's download page (http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/downloads/) doesn't contain all the basics -- there is no ps, or even vi. (no, i don't expect VIM or VIM-enhanced.... just a regular vi)

Any idea where to find either for a series 1 tivo?

its inside the .iso file, there is a tivoutilities.tar.gz or something like that. It had ls and ps. Didn't have "vi" but it did have JOE which is a decent text editor.

ps isnt in the iso (http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/downloads/jenkins.iso) or in the tgz (http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/downloads/tivobin.tgz). I'm a little frustrated... i feel blind without it. top would be awesome too, but i know how much of a pig it is.

I read that linuxppc binaries are mostly compatible. should i just lift it from an old copy?
