Just installed and 300g drive and works great. Thanks to hinsdale and ptv. Now I'd like to get telnet and ftp on the drive so I can replace a .tcl file. I'm not really interested in any extra features. I've been reading for quite some time and still quite confused. I believe I can run the sleeper cd (although not recommended) and use the surgery portion to install this stuff, but on the other hand it installs all the crap I don't want. ie: disabling updates, extraction and descambling, etc.. It seems very easy to use, 1 button and I'm done installing and basically ready to use. I've been the reading the threads on Kill_initrd but when I'm reading, it's like reading chinese. There's really not a how to on this and seems very complicated. Again, just need to transfer 1 file. Can point me in the right direction that would simplify my process. Seems like I've been going in circles reading all this stuff. Thanks in advance.

Whatever method you choose to hack your tivo, if you don't disable updates you'll lose the one .tcl file you did all this for when you get the next update.
