I got the DVR39 "pretty much" up and running with 4.01b, but the menu BG's are transparent and I cant seem to get them back.. I see some posts about a bad image and using another one.. is there any other way these days to get this to work without reimaging the drive?

unit is a DVR39:
running 4.0.1b-01-2-140
160GB drive (which shows 138 hours capacity)
kernel_patch-2.4.18
running superpatch-4all-NutKase-0.7.0.tcl
init framework complete with uma6fix

the other issues are..

-- I am getting a back screen (no video, except chan 100).. It was an open box unit and D* thinks it just needs a new access card (which they are sending me)

-- it keeps telling me my Tivo service needs to be activated.. could be becuase of above problem, though I am not sure it is.. I also ran fakecall.tcl which didnt seem to help (in system properties, both Service Connection and Service data download all entries show "none", and next scedueled is set to tomorrow afternoon)

-- when you try to let it dial out (without phone line connected) it gives an error.. do I need to just use the nophone option from one of my other units? or is this just the way it is..

Suggestion: Download one of the 3.1.1c images from emule and load that on the system. Check the image begging thread for specific images. If everything works you know you've fixed it. Your transparent background problem is due to the image. Again, better images are available; again this is discussed in the imaging begging thread.

Yes, you must reimage. Frankly, if this presents a major challange you are unprepared to hack the system.

Thanks for the Info PlainBill, I'll just reimage.. not a major deal at all, just figured i'd ask in case it was a simpler fix...

You followed a RID guide to hack your Tivo. Is your Tivo a RID unit?
