When I first got my Hughes SD-DVR40, I called in to get the latest software at the time which was 3.1.1c and then applied the sleeper scripts to it. I primarily wanted the fixsub hack so I didn't have to plug in a phone line to it. Now I want to update the software to 3.1.1e. Will this get rid of the fixsub hack? Will I have to replace it with fakecall? Is it even worth it to upgrade to 3.1.1e. If I wanted to upgrade to 4.0.1 will I lose all my recorded programs?

Thanks in advance

I primarily wanted the fixsub hack so I didn't have to plug in a phone line to it. Now I want to update the software to 3.1.1e. Will this get rid of the fixsub hack? Will I have to replace it with fakecall? Is it even worth it to upgrade to 3.1.1e. If I wanted to upgrade to 4.0.1 will I lose all my recorded programs?Step 1: Convert your existing unit from a Sleeper hacked system to one using a killhdinitrd (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36693) kernel.

Step 2: If want to upgrade to 3.1.1e, it is likely that the software is already waiting on your system to be installed. You can check this, if using TivoWebPlus, by selecting the MFS/SwSystem link and looking for an entry for 3.1.1e. If not using TWP, telnet to your system, and from the prompt type: echo mls /SwSystem | tivosh

If you see that a 3.1.1e version is present, follow the instructions here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showpost.php?p=195618&postcount=42) for upgrading your system without ever pulling your drive, which will also preserve all your recordings, etc.

Alternate Step 2: If you want to upgrade to 4.x, the steps are similar to those described in Step 2 above, however, you first need to have the 4.x software present and waiting to be installed on your system. You can do this by obtaining 4.x slice files from emule and loading them into your system, by following this process (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39558). This too will allow you to upgrade your machine without losing any recordings, hacks, etc.

Which one you choose is up to you. One key item to mention is that if you have locals on the 72.5 satellite, 4.x is not an option for you.
