Does anybody know why Tivo doesn't put a sound card into their systems. Instead i have to connect to a home theater system would love to be able to get rid of that extra piece of hardware. Is there anyway to add a sound card to my Tivo series 2.

Why on earth would you want a sound card in your Tivo? You already have audio outputs on the unit that will provide you with vastly superior sound. It is an audio/video component designed to be part of a home theater system and is not meant to be a compact stereo, after all. You'll get far better sound by connecting it to an external amplifier and speakers than you ever would with a built-in sound card.

Might be possible with a USB soundcard (you'd probably have to write the drivers). I guess they figure that anyone that uses a TiVo has a way to watch television with sound--either a TV with speakers or a monitor with a sound system.
