I currently have a 40 hour series 1 tivo with the tivonet network card and tivoweb/ftp/telnet access on it.
A friend of mine gave me his old Series 2 tivo after he kept the drive out of it for his computer (80 gig). I made a backup of the drive first before he put the drive in his computer.
I then went ahead and put a spare 80 gig drive i had and restored the backup to it and it works fine.
Now i have another friend who wants to trade me his series 1 tivo for my new series 1 tivo.
I'm going to keep the 80 gig drive no matter what.
The series 1 tivo that he wishes to give me has been modifed by me. It has the tivonet/cache card in it with the 512 meg stick of ram.
That is my question, is it a good idea to trade the series 2 tivo and give up tivo2go and so on for the series 1 model that has the fancy cache card and the 512 meg stick of ram?
Either tivo will end up with my 80 gig drive that I have so drive space is basically a non-issue. (the other friend is going to keep the 120 gig drive that the series 1 tivo that he has for his computer).
What would you guys do?
