View Full Version : No program guide after 7.1 upgrade
I upgraded my Toshiba SD-H400 TIVO with 160Gig hard drive and it worked fine until 7.1 upgrade.
Now there is no guide data available, I have reset, restarted, etc. and still not guide. The service connects to TIVO server OK and sets the clock but no Program guide. It even shows guide data downloading and goes through the process of downloading and processing data.
I subscribe to TIVO basic.

Are you running any hacks other than having expanded your drive (presumably via Hinsdale?)? We need more info from you so we can make some better guesses about what might be going wrong.
To be more clear, here are a few questions:
1) Assuming no other hacks are running, then 7.1 installed itself, yes or no?
2) Did -all- the guide data disapear instantly when 7.1 installed, or did it expire (i.e. around a week or so after 7.1 installed)?
3) When was your last succesful call home?
Thats a way to get started.

OK, I used hindsdale to install an image I got from this site. My original hard drive had died. After I installed the new drive, the tivo was fine. I had to do clear all and restart the server so, I can have data for my zip code.
A day later 7.1 upgrade came and the upgrade process itself took longer than it should have more than 12 hours. The tivo kept saying it is doing the upgrade. So I unplugged, reset and restarted, now it says that it has 7.1 version installed.
1) No other hacks were installed except chaning the drive. And yes, 7.1 installed by itself a day after I upgraded my drive. I had put in my Service Number for upgrade a month ago.
2) After I did reset and clear all data, the tivo would connect to the tivo service but would not download the guide.
3) I have connected to tivo service to download the guide but have been unsuccessful so far. Here is what my tivo says:
Software version: 7.1a-01-2-264
Tivo account status: 8:Closed (I was using basic Tivo service before all of this without any problem)
Tivo Service level: K:031805
TivoToGo: i,i,i
DVD Drive Firmware Version: 0.000 (I am pretty sure it was something else earlier)

Hope this helps in diagnosing the problem

Have you called tivo? We haven't provided a way to hack for more than basic here so I think a call is in order.
Or just go online and see what your 'My Account' says...

You don't need to establish an account to use TiVo Basic. I'm not sure if you even can.
Clearly, something is wrong at the headend if a unit with lifetime basic service is in service state 8. A call to TiVo should clear it up.

Well, I was close :) didn't know that 'basic' only people couldn't use 'My Account'.
Thanks for 'learning' me something new today.

Just to clarify.
I opened an account for 2 months to get the rebate. So, I actually I have an account in which I can log in.
When I log in, I see the following:
DVR Name DVR 759E
TiVo Service Number xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Service Type Monthly
Account Status Closed, Reactivate TiVo Service
Settings Transfers ALLOWED
UPDATE 9:35pm: Somehow, magically, the guide has reappeared and everything seems to be fine.
