My current setup is:
Livingroom tivo = 160gig hard drive 4.0
Bedroom Tivo - 120 gig hard drive 4.0
Staples has a hard drive going on sale on sunday 2/19.
there is no name in the ad, but it's a 200 gig drive:
was $159 now regular price is $129 - $40 instant - $30 easy rebate = $59.94
I want to get 2 of these and add them to both my tivos. Is this possible after moving to 4.0?
Thanks

4.x has nothing to do with it. Your type tivo... as in will it accept (have space) for two drives does.
Most S2's have room although you may have to get a kit which is just a bracket or plate to hold the extra drive.
Also, I hope you're running an LBA48 aware kernel on your 160 and you'll definitely need to be running one after putting in the 200's.
This will require you to be running a monte'd system unless you're on 6.2 (not yet released) or some other tivo OS that supports LBA4B addressing natively.
I'm sure someone will pipe in with other OS options but I only run 120gb drives from the pre-LBA48 days so I'm not that current.

I am running the correct kernal, it does see all 160 gb's, and I know weaknees sells the brackets to add the second hard drive. I'm looking around for a cheaper way to put the 2nd drives in. The y power cables and the IDE cables are not problem, I just have to figure out how to secure the 2nd drive. I take it that when I add the 2nd drive, I just have to plug both drives into the PC and run the mfsadd command.

I remember back in the early days* of TiVo hacking some people would strap their extra drive in with zip ties, velcro, or duct tape. I'm not suggesting you do this, just pointing out that it is nice to have the option of BUYING an properly fashioned bracket and supporting the people that support this board.

*And we had to walk 10 miles to school through the snow and it was uphill both ways......;) ;) ;)
Heh, I tried zip ties, that didn't work (cover wouldn't close, it was a tight fit) So I just used Electrical tape, put a little space between the drives and taped it in (about 1 yr ago). Have moved it around many times, no problems (jsut a thought)
