Question on transferring videos from Tivo to PC

I was wondering what all the steps are of transferring videos from the Tivo, to my PC. BTW, I have a DirecTV R10 80 gig receiver. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm....

If I'm correct, your first step would be to socket/reprogram the unit's PROM. I think that that R10 DTivos cannot yet be circumvented with a software only hack (they have a different PROM boot check than the HDVR2 and RID units, so it's currently necessary to replace the PROM).

Assuming that you've reprogrammed your PROM, you can then begin to modify the aspects of your box (i.e., killhdinit a kernel and monte to another if need be, patch the tivoapp, install the different hacks, experiement with other stuff). You can get a good idea of those things by browsing the different posts (the 4.x on RID thread might be a good place to start after you've reprogrammed your PROM).
