View Full Version : HDVR2 HMO functions "disappeared" (merged)

I've got two Hughes HDVR2's, each with 4.01b and the HMO function enabled. Each has a wireless USB adapter connected to it. Up until this evening, when I went to either unit's Now Playing list, I could see at the bottom of this list the icon for the other DTIVO, so I was able to easily transfer a recording from one to another.

For some inexplicable reason, all my HMO functions have disappeared. Each unit's icon disappeared from the other's Now Playing list, meaning I can no longer access them via the HMO feature. Also, I am unable to publish photos or MP3's from my laptop to my HDVR2's, something I had no trouble doing until now.

I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. My wireless Internet service is otherwise fine, too. I've tried a number of things to get back the HMO capabilities, but I'm baffled. I'm even trying to figure out if I somehow did something wrong, though I admit I have no idea what that could have been.

Any suggestions?

Your Tivo is trying to update it's software.....see here: http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41782

That's a bunch of hogwash. My TIVO is not going to be updating its software in the middle of the day.

Regardless, today it's fine, except for my Music & Photos functions. I still can't get that aspect to work, especially after they were fine a few days ago.

P.S. I don't have a standalone TIVO. I've got a DTIVO, so your referenced update doesn't apply to me.

I realize this is more of a computer problem, but I can't figure out why I'm having this problem. Any suggestions one can give would be most appreciative.

I have been completely unable to get TyToolr18 to work. Whenever I click on start server, I get the response: "Error! Failed to connect."

I also am getting the "connection timed out/unable to connect" response when attempting to use Tera Term Pro.

I do not recall doing anything different to my laptop to cause these problems, either. FWIW, I have never been able to get TyToolr18 to connect. Until now, Tera Term has been able to connect. I've rebooted my router, modem, PC, and everything else, just to see if there may have been a problem on that end. I've also turned off NIS completely to avoid any possible firewall conflicts. That didn't help, unfortunately.

I tried searching ad infinitum to see if anyone has had a similar problem, but I've so far been unsuccessful.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction? Thanks.

The problem seems to have resolved itself. I think my Internet connection is all screwed up this weekend. Now if I can only figure out why my TyTool and Tera Term Pro can't connect, as explained in another thread here.

It really sounds like your tivo lost its ethernet connection, be it wired or unwired. If there is no network ther eis no other tivos in sight. :) i think 4.0 has a menu option to check your network connection. as far as it coming back partially maybe the wireless isn't working so hot. 802.11 isnt all that its cut out to be.
