DRD6000 2.0.1 Serial connection

Can you connect to the DRD6000 with the serial connection still? Running software 2.0.1 I got the tivo cable, null modem & gender changer. But have been unable to get a prompt, but I think I read that under 2.0.1 you can't get a prompt.

Did you follow all the steps on how to get bash on tivo? If not please see the TiVo FAQ (http://tivo.samba.org) for details.

did you chattr the rc.sysinit file? if not, then it will be reverted back to it's original state every time you boot.
