I've been trying to get tyserver, tyindex, tyhttpd, and a variety of other things working...

I get the same error for them all no matter what I do

"cannot execute binary file"

do I have to put the files in a specific place or is my kernel screwed up or what could be the problem?

Also, I'm having a problem getting MPlayer to compile right, it's telling me to use gcc 3.x.x and while I downloaded gcc I have no idea how to install it...

can you help a newbie hacker out?

Thanks

How did you send it over? FTP? Did you send it over using BINARY mode? If you dont know, then you probably did not. Most FTP clients need to have the BINARY set explicitly.

I used smartftp and chose the binary setting...

and the tyserver and tyindex were untar'd on the tivo itself

If you search for that error, you will find you are most likely using a binary for the wrong platform (S1 vs S2)

well how do i find the right binary files for series 2 units?

if you could point me in the right direction for files such as:

vserver
mplayer (that will compile on a series 2)
tyserver
tyindex
mfs_ftp

if someone could help out I'd really REALLY appreciate it

Some of them you can get from their website. Others, if you search, try adding series 2, S2, and/or MIPS to the term. S2-> MIPS
