Hello All,

I have been reading this forum for over 2 weeks trying to get this answer and I am sorry in advance if I am asking something I shouldn't. I am very new to this TIVO and Linux. I have been able through this forum to get my Series2 Tivo Huges R-10 loaded to the new 120 gig drive and all is well, I can ping my tivo but can't telnet or ftp. I have read re-read the tivoftp doc's but still can't access it. I have tried a serial cable connection still no luck. Tried booting with Knoppix but can't mount the drive.
I know in this forum we are not suppose to ask "How do I" but I am really at my wits end, can someone please point me in the right direction even without directly answering, if that is ok.
I have gone out and bought Mastering Red Hat Linux 9 Book also in an attempt to get this figured out. Well if all else fails I have stumbled on what I am sure is going to be alot of fun (and headache) learing Linux.

Again Thanks to anyone that can give assistance and also i apologize if this is a bad question to be asking here.

In order to telnet or ftp into a Tivo, you need to hack it. Ie. you need to break the chain of trust so you can install an FTP daemon, and modify the startup scripts to disable the netfilter and start the telnet & FTP daemons. Simply copying the stock Tivo software to a larger drive won't do that part for you.

Unfortunately for you (if the Huges R-10 is the same R10 that everyone else has been talking about) your Tivo is a Series 2.5 and will require a prom-mod in order to hack it. See this thread (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36801) for more details.

Good luck!
