The upgrade to 4.01b went smooth. The sole purpose of upgrading was to extract shows to burn to dvd to send to my brother in Iraw.

I can access the TIVOWEBPLUS no problem.
I go to Extract and there are 3 options to click, TMP - TY - ASX
When I click any or the links link it take me to a FTP folder structure and so i try the ASX older and it it either conitunes to open to another ASX folder while using annonymous authentication or if I use no authenication it gives me an Access denied. This happens when I try any folder here.

As for the the networking side, I am wired and I can vouch that the IP settings that are obtain via DHCP are good.
I can tranfer mp3's and pictures to the tivo, so we know connectivity is good.

I just can't get the movies off of Tivo. Am I looking for a MPEG2 file or something else?
I am going to try TYTOOLS when I get home, but shouldn't there be an eaiser way?

Since I do have a legit Tivo account, is it bad or not to email them for a media acess key?

Let me know when you have a chance.

You probably want the TMF format. It's the most portable & least susceptable to problems. (The ASF folder only contains ASF files that point to their respective recordings, normally used for streaming directly from the Tivo with vserver. When you click on one of those links, IE is probably just trying to open the ASF file with WMP... not what you want in this case.) When you open the TMF folder, try right-clicking on the recording you want and choose "Copy to folder".

I use tytool almost exclusively for extraction. You need to use it to convert the TY or TMF file to MPEG2 anyway, so you may as well use tserver to extract in the first place. And no, there is no easier way... although, any way is "easy" once you know how to do it.

Uhh... huh? Media Access Keys are only used for Tivo2Go, which is only available in 7.x anyway. But go ahead & email Tivo for one if you want... it'd be neither bad nor good, but they'd probably just laugh at you. ;)

Very Cool...

OK, Where can I D/L the correct TYTOOLS and TSERVER appications. Do I need to be version conscience?

I appreaciate you pointing me to the URLS in advance.

I suppose I could yell at you & tell you to use the search function on the board, but...

In the "Extraction, Insertion & Streaming Support" section, there's an entire sticky thread for TyTool (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39740). The files are attached to the second or third post.

You may also want to use the tserver that's bundled as part of the unified mfs_* toolset (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39487) since it doesn't require it's own NowShowing.tcl script.

Do I need to be version conscience?
Only inasmuch that you want the Series2 binaries, not Series1.
