I have downloaded kernels from this thread....

I also have downloaded killhdinitrd however I do not know what to do next. I was just going to use the Sleeper ISO however talking with a member on here has pretty much swayed me from that because from what I gather installing the Sleeper ISO will end up giving me headaches in the long run.

What do I do next?

I have to admit, what frustrates most of us about posts like yours is that there are oh-so-many of them.

Please start with the newbie guides:

Newbie Guide Index (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37434).

Then, maybe have a look here (you dont state what system you're using, so I cant be sure if its appropriate) for a pretty good explanation of a 4.x install.

4.x+RID Installation Guide (http://nh-gym.com/4xrid.htm)

I agree with Druid...took me about 4 clicks to find decent directions from the link you posted.

Then next time PUT me on your ignore list. I honestly don't understand all the pent up anger that so many people have when people ask questions in the NEWBIE section.

FYI-I have done searches and read for 2-3 hours over the past 2 days. However phrases like killhdinird, kernel and installation pull up tens if not hundreds of threads. I've even narrowed down my threads to search only titles of threads in an attempt to see if people have asked the questions I was looking for answered in the title of there threads.

I have been reading this site and have learned about Sleeper and pretty much was comfortable with going that route.

This link pretty much spelled it out as clearly as anything I have seen on this board.
http://www.weethet.nl/english/tivo_dtv2_hacksleeper.php

However I was turned away from Sleeper because it is outdated, buggy, etc so I figured I'd save myself the time. Through reading about sleeper I gained knowledge of how Tivo and hacking basically works. Sleepers method however is like the WindowsXP "wizards for everything" method. Which I can see is not the best method. In order to hack my Tivo I will need to get my hands dirty so to say. I have downloaded kernels, killhdinitrd and numerous utils. I also have printed out info on how to build the serial cable I will need. So I have learned quite alot. Indeed it is not nearly what many on here know however it is a start.

Does it make you feel better that you have got your frustrations off your chest? Seriously is it that big of a deal to you? If so, put me on your ignore list. And do the same for any newbie that gets on your nerves.

If you come back with a caustic post in response again venting your frustration don't even bother because as I suggested to you I will put you on MY ignore list. So please don't waste my time. No one is forcing you to waste your time on me. Have a good day.
