Anyting special you have to do to a unit that has never placed a call home before? When I try to call it says it is going to update its local numbers and that always fails. Should I plug it in and let it download the numbers. Or do I have something setup wrong?

Thanks,
Jason

In theory (and in the software menu's of the TiVo) it's should be anble to call from anywhere in the world and still get connected.

did you look into this menu option? do you for example have to dial a "0" to get an outside line or have ISDN?

i'm sure you could accomplice calling in if you spend some time reading manuals and threads.
If you already know the manual by head...don't get mad-) :D :D :D

Jason, why do you want it to dial out? Have you read somewhere that this is necessary with directivo unit? I thought that with the fixup script there is no need to allow to ever call home - did read something to the contrary?

Would appreciate your input...

Did it occure to you that some people just want the full service and want to pay for that with out any hassle? It's only a couple of $$ a month.

hacking your machine from scratch isn't easy with out understanding of linux and very straight forward howto's for most of us....:D :D :D

Based on other threads I'm pretty sure that Jason is attempting to use the Fixup script. If he was just trying to use his combo unit as intended then there are better places to ask.
