Ok, let me start out by saying that I am not near an smart as any of you guys on this board when it comes to linux - I know my way arround windows but not really any unix/linux based stuff...
Now on to my questions. I think the main reason we want to get to bash is so we can run fixup and forget about the phone line forever.... Well TiVo send the sub information via the phone line, if they do that - then why can't we???? Say that you setup some kind of terminal up on your pc and have it set to auto answer, now go into your Tivo and edit the dialing properties and add your telephone number in the prefix section. When it dials it will dial your numbere (You would need 2 lines for this). I really don't know how tivo talks once it connect - but it seems that doing this would be easier than trying to crack the prom or the no public key.
I do konw that there are more reasons for wanting to get to bash - but maybe by going in via the phone line we can enable to serial port via bash that way? Anyways - let me know what you all think.
