Does anyone know if you can take the drive out of one DirecTivo and put it in another DirecTivo.

I'm can't FTP to the one receiver. I'm trying to figure out why. So I'd like to put temporarily put the drive in my other receiver to see if I can ftp to that one.

Basically, replace the drive in one receiver with the drive from another.

Both units are the same make and model and are one drive units.

The drive is supposed to be netready, but I can't get to it.

Both are Phillips DR6000 with network cards installed.

Thanks.

Yes, you can swap drives between identical DTivos but you will get a hardware error message (error #51). This can be erased by performing a clear & delete everything or by installing and running the 51killer.tcl script. Here is an explanation of what is happening with the error #51:

Thanks very much Captian Video.

And, by the way, I just finishing reading that entire thread and it made me laugh out loud. It really made my day.

Thanks again.
