Hi -- I'm hoping there is a way to save my recordings....
My tivo was locking up every 24-36 hours due to some bad sectors. I had 2 smaller drives that I put into my tivo and restored an mfsbackup using v2 of MFS Tools so the device is back up and running. I ran maxtor's utilities which identified the problem blocks and "repaired" them, however, my tivo no longer boots with the original two drives in it. I was hoping to put the originals back in, use my recently acquired cachecard and mfs_ftp to save them to my PC, replace those drives w/my newer drives and upload my shows from the PC back to the Tivo. (I had Maxtor 120's originally and my backups drives are Samsung 120's so they are smaller and a dd doesn't fit by several MB.)
Does anybody have any ideas? I don't want all the shows, just a few of them (in particular, my YTD series of "24" which my parents were going to come over and watch once we were down to the last couple of episodes (they hate waiting for each week ;-) ). I don't even care about the shows that are on the current samsung disks....Any way to mount these drives using Knoppix and copy/ftp files to my PC? Preference to something that doesn't require pulling my Tivo offline because my wife is getting sick of the number of hours I've worked on this (multiple dd's and dd_rescues)...
