ok,
the release version is out in final beta.

Tictoc, or anyone,

can you give us an update?
please?

does anyone know if hacks work with sa 2.5?
my fear is that 2.5, w/ flashed prom or otherwise, will not allow a box to be "downgraded". once your at 2.5, there's no going back. this is why i want to know if 2.5 is closed to hacks as 2.5 for dtivo's is. i'm afraid they don't want anyone to know till it's too late.

i seriously hope i'm just being paranoid.

If you want to get an indication of hacks that probably will not work out of the box, just look at the history of those hacks.

If they had to be rewritten after 2.0.1 came out (tivoweb, for example), then chances are that it will not work on 2.5 until the respective (and respected) authors make the changes.

The two culprits for forcing changes in software are database changes between releases, and the use of different libc libraries in the new kernel build.

Troy,

i think you may have missed the point.

i don't really expect to go ripping right off the bat on the first reboot, the question is what core changes are made with 2.5? are they gonna do a eeprom re-write as was done w/ the dtivos? will all startup files be checksummed upon reboot to check for changes, and replaced if they are?

check out the threads on 2.5 in the forum next door. little changes don't bother me. locking the system so that any changes to the system startup files causes the box to refuse to even boot does. that's what i want to be prepared for.

and that's why i eagerly await Delta's post.

True.

Checkout a similar thread at AVS Forum:

Hinsdale makes the observation that a number of people have gotten the update but there has not been the outcry from those people as would be expected if there were problems...he was referring to non NDA people.
