Is there some software for the hu cards that would enable all the tivo functions to work? Will it be in demo mode?

Think of the dtivo as a separate directv receiver and a tivo unit in the same chassis. Although thats an oversimplication, if you want to completely hack a dtivo you have two separate things to attack. The HU card will only get you dtv service, it wont help you with the tivo side.
