Sorry to bother you guys but I have searched and searched.

I pulled out my DirecTivo HDVR2 the other day and wanted to get my wireless situation setup. I hooked up my Linksys WUSB11 v 2.6 wireless USB network adapter and set a static IP address. The Tivo recorgnizes the adapter, pulls it's MAC address just fine and sees my Wireless Linksys G Router router in the basement. NO WEP encryption at this time.

Only problem is NO SIGNAL!! I understand that the Linksys WUSB11 is perfectly compatible with the HDVR2 and 4.01 software with folders so why can't I get a signal?

P.S.--The adapter works fine when connected to a desktop to wirelessly browse the web. Just doesn't work with the Tivo.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I searched like a fool to no avail...

Guess I'll just pick up a WUSB12 and try that since no one has comments...

Sorry if this has been covered. I always search before posting on any forum but just couldn't find anything here or on the 'other; site...

my solution usb200m's to a linksys 5 port switch to a buffalo wla-54c repeater/wds so that I have both downstairs tivos connected wirelessly to the upstairs network.. This way I have external antenaes on both the downstiars unit and a huge one on the upstairs wbr-54 running sveasoft firmware... no problems at all..

I just went through the process of unsleepering my HDVR2 and moving to 4.01b and killhdinitrd. My WUSB11 ver2.8 wouldn't work with the USB2 drivers... luckily I backed up the originals before.

Rolled back things were good. I was able to configure WEP and everything through the Tivo interface.

On the linksys wusb11v2.6 the connectors on each end of the USB cable are the same. One end of the cable has a sticker that says "To USB adapter, Keep this side down". Make sure that end is not plugged into the Tivo. That end needs to be plugged into the adapter.

Phil,

I did in fact have that reversed. I connected it properly as you mentioned and know it actually connects to my neighbors NETGEAR router that it scanned but doesn't connect to my Linsys in the basement!! It sees it in the list of routers to choose from but says "This network cannot be found" when I choose it. Adversly, my neighbors connects and comes in with a poor 12% signal... So I know the WUSB11 is working but it just won't pickup my router.

Tried changing from Channel 6 to channel 11 or 1 as per Linksys and no dice... :(

That's really odd. The only other suggestions I have are to try loweing the RTS Threshold and Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 on the router. Do you have a laptop? If so, try putting it next to the Tivo using the same WUSB11 and see if you can get a wireless connection to your router. Also, whats the model number of the linksys router you have?

WRT54G (Linksys Wireless-G) is my router. Like I said, the WUSB11 connected to my router when I used a computer with it. Just doesn't connect to my router when using Tivo.

I will try the other tests you mentioned above. Weird that it would connect to my neighbors NETGEAR and not my native Linksys which it is made for.

I had upstairs/downstairs connectivity problems, but they involved strength and resulting very slow download speeds. A repeater would not work, as there was too much signal/conflict with the router (I have the same Linksys router).

What did work were a pair of directional antennas pointed downstairs. Signal strength and download speeds went way up.

I used D-Links (they were low priced at fry's).

Gaw,

Model #'s on those D-Links? I am not familiar with them at all...

Looks like 4.01b didn't like the WUSB11. Picked up a WUSB12, installed and upgraded drivers via on screen menu, and voila. I now have access...

Anyone want a used WUSB11? :)

Looks like 4.01b didn't like the WUSB11 This surprizes me. My WUSB11 v3.0 worked right out of the of the box with 4.01b and my WRT54G with WEP. The WUSB11 v3.0 uses the prism chipset which is different than the WUSB11 v2.6, but I thought both were supported by the stock drivers in 4.01b. If you're still curious, you might search for WUSB11 in this thread (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30224&highlight=wusb11), which although is geared toward the prism devices, still has some good network troubleshooting tips. In fact the last post (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showpost.php?p=222874&postcount=244), documents my ordeal of trying to get my WUSB11 working with 6.2, which I still have yet to crack.

FYI, I am running Linksys USB 1.1 Version 2.6 with the 4.01b kernel, however I did not upgrade to the USB 2.0 drivers. My thinking was that this hardware is 1.1, what good would the 2.0 drivers do for me.
