What is the easiest way to get HMO on a DTivo that has been sucessfully upgraded to 6.2 by DirecTV? I don't want to do a new image since I want to keep the recordings on there - I really only want to activate HMO. What's the best way to do this?
Thanks,
Dan

You'll need to hack the TiVo and once this is accomplished, use the superpatch-67all to enable HMO and MRV - http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43326.
Look at this thread as a starting point for what to do with hacking 6.2: http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42325
If you want to share the shows via MRV or extract them for re-insertion on another Tivo, you'll have to unscramble them by monteing into an unscramble kernel: http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39207. Once the superpatch is run, any new recorded shows will not be scrambled.

If you want to share the shows via MRV ... you'll have to unscramble them by monteing into an unscramble kernel:Are you sure about this? At least on 7.1b I can MRV scrambled shows between superpatched tivos.

It may be different on 6.x/7.x, but on 4.0.1b I could not MRV a scrambled show. At least, as far as I remember from hacking a friend's RID box some months ago...

If Both Tivo's you are MRV'ing are scrambled, I would think it will work fine. But when you go "Id like to FTP this to my puter and burn a DVD...." You better have it unscrambled then. And then that means doing all your tivos to keep it all working. At least thats what I thought I had to do with my 3 HDVR2's.

I probably remember wrong then. :o

I probably remember wrong then. :oIt could also be a difference between SA and DTivo. Since I have a SA, I have real tivo group certs (not the fake set_mrv_name group cert). Perhaps that makes a difference.

You don't have to monte into anything to MRV, maybe you do if the original recordings were recorded scrambled but that's not explicitly declared.
Just ensure that your recordings were recorded 'uncrambled'.

7.1x yes. But, I didn't have any luck with ALL 4.0.1x systems on SA tivos... yet, keep in mind that I never tried all variations probably.

NutKaseI was being too brief - yes, once the shows have been unscrambled, you don't have to monte at all with 6.2.
I've been too busy to upgrade my machines to 6.2, but I'll probably still chainload anyway - into a kernel compiled with CONFIG_NETFILTER turned off.
