sorry for posting in this the wrong forum originally...

I've been out of the DTivo hacking scene for quite a while...my old HDVR2 has been running fine by booting 3.1U5 and monte'ing into (the version before 4.0--I don't remember the number it's been so long!). My question is...

I'm moving and have the option of signing up again as a new DTV customer as my contract expired long ago. I imagine if I do, I'll get the latest box (R10?) and software version (6.2?). Is there any advantage in sticking with my old HDVR2? I have it connected to my home network and I run msftp on it to pull shows off. I would like to get the feature of folders but don't want to give up my hacking options. I've heard about MRV but don't know much about it.

thanks!

IIRC, the R10 runs 6.1, not 6.2. 6.2 runs on the HDVR2. The R10 can be hacked ONLY by replacing the prom. The HDVR2 can be hacked using killhdinitrd. (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36693)

You decide.
