I have a svr-2000 with cache card and tivoweb+ installed, software version 3.0-01-1-010 - recently I changed the ip address of the box but unmounted the drive before chmod'ing the file. This caused the box to turn off telnet, ftp and would not allow it to dial out and get it's software/channel updates.

I found a very interesting site on the internet for a newbie like me, www.stevejenkins.com and read thru it. So I mounted hdc7 and cd over to the rc.d directory and opened rc.net. It was blank inside and noticed that jenkins mentioned entering the telnet command there. I did so and ctrl-k+x and then chmod re.net.

From there I placed the drive back in the box and all I get it a black screen that says please wait while your recorder starts up - or something along those lines.

After running all of these commands I thought that maybe that site was for an unmodded box and I shouldn't have done it that way.

Does this black screen mean that I have to start over or could I just go back in and do some clean up - thanks for your patience with me.

edit - one thing I forgot to mention at the top of this post. When I goofed up the ip address change, the ip address did change but all other services were turned off.
