ok, heres my situation. I am going to be moving soon and want direct tv dsl, and i want to use the vonage service (will be in the country) so i was wondering if anyone can help me and tell me if there is a way to set up dsl (requires a phone line) with vonage (the voip phone line service). can i just run around the system somehow or do i need an actual land line or a different type of service (other than dsl). thanks in advance for any replies and or suggestions

Hooo Boy!!! You really made the day memorable.

AFIK, DirecTV no longer sells DSL, they sold that part of the business a couple of years ago.

More to the point, you need a broadband connection to use Vonnage. Ergo, if you have Vonnage, you don't need DSL.

If you are thinking you can plug a DSL modem into a Vonage terminal, that won't work as all a VOIP terminal provides is "in band" services, not full service (such as DSL), as a POTS line.

What exacly are you trying to accomplish, given you need broadband anyway to use a VOIP service (which with that broadband, you get high-speed internet), and that VOIP systems and providers cannot provide broadband DSL through their hardware or network.

If you have DSL you cann add Vonage. Plain and simple Vonage runs over any broadband connection (Cable/DSL/T1/T3 ......

You need a land-line to get DSL. But you could get a cable internet connection if you don't want a phone line. Then you could use vonage through that connection.

I need an egg so I guess I should first build a chicken... or is it the other way around?

I think the OP was just yankin our chain. There seem to be some very dumb question being posted lately. I can only think that that this site is becoming a troll magnet because they're guaranteed a big reaction to dumb questions. Trolls love it when they can post a little something that pisses off (or pushes the buttons of) a lot of people.
