Hi, not sure if someone has seen the same problem I have. I allowed my Tivo to update to 7.1b last week and killinitrd'd it with the hacked 3.1.5 kernel, fixed iptables, etc. Put the drive back and boots up perfectly. However, the 2nd time I rebooted my Tivo after the upgrade, it gets to the screen that says" starting up in a few minutes..." and goes into a reboot loop.

I believe it has something to do with the *.BRF file as my logs indicate.

I did install TivoWebPlus 1.0 (yes, I know it's not fully functional after putting on 7.1b and ran ChannelMapScript.tcl and did the Logos with TivoWebPlus - everything was working fine until I forced a reboot when I had to move the Tivo. I also had endpad.tcl and bufferhack.tcl installed on the tivo - both of which seemed to work fine before the 2nd boot in 7.1b.

Can someone please help me? I'm trying not to lose my recordings if and keep 7.1b if possible. I have a TCD240

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm supicious of bufferhack, since the 4.0x version mucks about with that brf file. What version did you run? v4.0b?

Yes, I believe I ran 4.0b.

Yes, I believe I ran 4.0b.If you want to recover, I'd pull the drive, stick it in a Linux PC and explore /TuikRes with mfs_ls & mfs_dumpobj. Locate the PvrConstantsDocument.brf and compare it against one from a stock 7.1b install. If it's bad, write the stock version over the bad one (assuming it's the same size in MFS).

You could also do this on the tivo from a serial console connection if you can tweak the startup scripts to stop before starting the processes that cause the crash.

Thanks for your help. I tweaked around with it on my PC for awhile and it seems like it was going to be difficult for me to get a stock copy, etc. So I ended up reinstalling and losing my recordings.

For anyone else reading this, this error was indeed caused by bufferhack 4.0b (I put on each hack I had and rebooted to find out which was causing the problem) - I had 7.1b running with killhdinitrd'd 3.1.5 kernel. Be wary using the Bufferhack 4.0b on 7.1b since there seems to be some problems.

Sorry you lost your recordings. You might want to post your findings in the bufferhack support thread with a link to these error logs so JJ and Jeboo can take a quick look if they need to. I also had a problem of my Tivo rebooting after applying bufferhack. I was able to just restore my tivoapp file and that stopped the rebooting. Interesting thing is that it kept my 60 minute buffer. I think the tivoapp modification fixes the playbar only. But its nice having the larger live tv buffer.

I applied bufferhack after the 67Superpatch. I need to run bufferhack on a virgin tivoapp and see if it still reboots. I just haven't found the time to play with it yet.
