Someone posted on the 'other' board:

However, if you create a wishlist, then record from the wishlist, the programs will be grouped under the wishlist.

I haven't verified this... but it made me think... if folders aren't
tied to the program name, but can be grouped via whishlist...
could you 'fake' a whishlist and then associate recorded shows
with that 'fake' whishlist. If you can't 'fake' the wishlist, maybe
you can create a real one, and then, somehow associate
recorded programs with the whishlist....

My goal is to be able to have a 'kid show folder' and lump
all of the shows my kids record into this folder so there
aren't 10 different folders for the different shows they
watch.

Has this been discussed... I did search on 'create folders'
but didn't find any hits.

I edited the name of an existing series "Paid Programming" to my own name. I then associated several inserted programs to this series. tivo crashed after doing 3 shows but I managed to get 14 in the folder. I'm thinking it was a 6.2/twp issue. It's not perfect however because transferring to another dtivo (running 4.01) using MRV didn't group the shows.

This is a good question, I record the entire NFL schedule on 8 TiVo's and want to have each team in it's own folder.

Can this be done?

Take a look at this thread (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36208). It should be possible.

Thanks, I'll check that out. It looks like it might be mor complex than I have time for at the moment. I was hoping it might be something more simple.

Thanks for the link, I've bookmarked it for future study.
