I have converted the .tivo files to mpeg files using graphedit, but can't seem to find any software trials that will burn those mpegs to a dvd for me. I downloaded nerovison 3. whatever and it worked the first time flawlessly. I went back to do the others and the Create DVD option was gone. Anyone have any suggestions. thanks

Yeah. Forget about extracting .tivo files and extract them in ty, ty+, or tmf format using the methods outlined in these forums. While I haven't experienced the TivoToGo feature myself, everything I've read leads me to believe the resulting mpegs are lower in quality than the files we've been extracting for several years now using tried and true methods like TyTools, TyStudio, mfs_ftp, or TivoWeb.

TyTool (free) (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39740)
DVD Lab (30-day trial) (http://www.mediachance.com/download.htm)
TMPGEnc DVD Author (30-day trial) (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html)
Nero 6 Ultra Edition (30-day trial) (http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero6-ultraedition.php)

They extract with really good quality(at least i think so) the problem is using dd dump doesnt make them dvd compliant mpegs. I havent found a proggie that will make them compliant, so its kinda useless for extracting.

"DVD compliant" only has a few "acceptable" NTSC resolutions:
720x480, 704x480, 352x480, 352x240

Any program trying to make "compliant" files is going to re-encode your videofiles. The trick is that most DVD players these days (especially those which support SVCD) will handle the 480x480 resolution ouput by tivo.

While they may appear to be good quality to you the fact remains that they are degraded from what the original image should be. The only way to get the best possible mpegs from a Tivo is to do it in ty format or one of it's variants (i.e., ty+ or tmf) and then convert it to an mpg file. If you're watching the end result on a small standard def TV then the hoigher quality may not be of much importance to you but if you have a HDTV or at least a big screen standard def TV then the quality difference will become readily apparent.

Thats true,Ive seen it on friends tvs.
Im not a videophile. I dont have HD TV so I guess my standards are not as high.(grin)
I havent hacked my tivo SA S2, so I cant use tyool. The TTG is probably my best bet for now.
