Hello... I'm in the process of purchasing another DTivo for my living room. I currently own a DSR6000 which I've had for 5 years now and it's been excellent. Recently needs a new hard drive but that's to be expected I guess because of it's age. You can read about my questions regarding that upgrade here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=228222#post228222) .
Anyhow I was wondering what the advantages of owning a S2 where over my S1? I was considering purchasing another DSR6000 or a Sat-T60 (I had two Sat-T60 and love them but sold them because they where fetching so much money). Now I see these are pretty dirt cheap so I figured buy a second one for the living room since I more or less understand the process of upgrading/hacking them.
The S2 kind of confuse me but they are also pretty cheap. Sorry for the newbee like questions but I've been out of it so long I'm having a hard time getting caught up.

If you are only interested in basic Tivo functions then either model is fine. The main advantage of S2 models vs S1's is the newer OS versions that allow you to add HMO and MRV functionality as well as organizing your shows with folders. If you get locals from one of the newer sats then you will need an S2 DTivo with the latest OS installed in order to receive them.

I read about it everywhere and how people are tring to get it working or really happy when they do but no one has actually mentioned what it is.
My DSR6000 recieves my local channels just fine so I'm assuming everything with my Locals is ok. Maybe the new bird is for newly added local markets?
If I upgrade both my units to S2's what is the advantage networking the units? I assume transfering of shows between the two?

HMO=Home Media Option (now included with paid TiVo service--not an option) Hacked for DTiVo.
MRV=Multi-Room Viewing.
