I have been trying to extract unencrypted programs from a Ptv "cake" and "Net" hacked Samsung Sir4040. With this hack can unscrambling be accomplished? I have read forums until I am blind and confused without finding a single thread that directly addresses how to accomplish this. If I have made a mistake, what method of hacking is tried and proven?? Why isn't a cohesieve "How to" offered that is current with today's DVR's???

Questions about commercial products are best directed to the forums on the web site of the vendor.

If you want to move beyond what PTV offers, you'll either need to fully understand what their products have installed/modified on your tivos, or start over from scratch. Either way, read and understand ALL the sticky posts in the newbie forum before posting. Newbie questions should go in the newbie forum.

Read the 'stickies' in the Newbie Forum. You can direct all your further posts there also.

The problem is that you've used a 'do it for me' solution when you purchased the p t v upgrade products. Those products aren't supported here. Call p t v upgrade and ask for the web address to their forum. You should request support there.

This board is for those who want to learn to hack their tivos, NOT just HAVE a hacked tivo.

Now, after you hound the crap out of p t v upgrade, come back here...

1. Find out what tivo software version you have installed on the 'System Info' screen on your tivo.
--- we don't hack tivos by tivo type, we hack tivos by tivo software version.

2. Read the forum for your particular software version. 'NoCSO' is the tivoapp patch that prevents your tivo from scrambling video while recording it.
--- Tytools is an easy way to extract unscrambled video. mfs_ftp will also allow extracting and inserting video back to your tivo with an ftp client.



That should get you started reading. If you don't read and help yourself ( and continue to post questions that show clearly that you haven't read forums until - blind and confused without finding a single thread), no one will help you. If you have spent hours reading, you haven't done it productively... now you can.

I've been, what I feel, is very accomodating to your questions... Now you do your part and research now that you know what to look for.
