- What is meant by getting the locals on 7.25?
- What is meant by backdoors?
- If u turn off encryption do you use more space?
- can u pull the shows off via ftp and rip them on DVD?
- if so what dir are they in
- I am Running 2 DirectTivo T60's on 3.1.0c2-01-1-011, can I move to 6.2? they cachecards and ethernet and I just installed Tivo web and web plus
- How do I get 6.2?

thanks
George

How do I get 6.2?You don't.
You have Series 1 Tivo's, 6.2 is for Series 2's.

- How do I get 6.2? Listen to the donkey (or is it mule?). These answers might help you, however:

1) I think you're referring to some locations where local channels are on a different satellite position, thus requiring a second dish. Since I don't have that problem, I cannot be more specific (not without doing your research for ya, but, well, hopefully that'll give you something to search for herein).

2) re: backdoors, a google search on "TiVo" followed by a Search Within Results on "backdoors" yielded this (http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/139635.html), wherein it sez, "Backdoors are the fun remote codes--the ones that require a little more knowledge to get into. You're not going to stumble upon these by accident; you have to know what you're looking for." So again, have fun researching.

3) re: encryption, I don't know about space issues, but I doubt it. Even if it did use more space the amount would be minimal and totally worth the benefits, foremost of which is that you can "extract" (search hint!) recordings and do stuff with and to them (that sounds dirty ;-)

4) Yes, shows can be "extracted" from a TiVo (mfs_ftp and/or TyTool; maybe others). Both apps have their uses, but TyTool is the bomb-diggity app of TiVoLand, IMHO. It includes the ability to create DVD Video-compliant files which Nero, et al., can burn and which will play in most standard DVD players.

5) re: what dir are they in, TyTool takes care of that for you. mfs_ftp will require more research on your part.

If you haven't been reading these forums for at least a month, well, get busy! ;-)

6 & 7) You don't need 6.2 to do any of the things I've mentioned (anyone: please feel free to correct that statement, if it is in error). 6.2 is nice, to be sure. Is it worth buying new hardware? Ya got me.

Pheeeew..... what was that Styx song? Too much time on my hands???

Have fun :D
