With Nutkase's Patch Awesome Work. I just Upgraded to 6.2. Have a quick question for anyone. Is it possible to move things around in the main menu. I would really like for the music and photos to be where Stanby is now and Return Stanby to the main menu..Just A thought..Thanks Nutkase..

I guess know one knows. This is the only thing keeping me from upgrading all my tivo's to 6.2. Although I am not downgrading the superpatch67. It would take A NutKase to figure this sh!t out... :p

I'm running 6.2 and I use Standby everyday so I wish it was back on the main menu also. I don't really understand why it would move with the superpatch.

I also would like to get rid of the (demo) thing also. Maybe some day Alphawolf will tell us how he did it if we promise not to blame him when we screw it up :P

Can you explain to me why you use Standby everyday? I'd like to know.
I don't see a good use for it.

OTOH I recently loaded the 6.2 minimal image AW provided and notice that if I do Standby that, when I resume, the backgound menu images are gone (the smoke). If I reboot they come back.

Is there a known reason why this happens?

I just don't see the need in buffering TV 24 hours a day. I feel anything I can do to maybe make the HD last longer is a good thing. (To anyone, please do not turn this into a Standby arguement.)

Is there a known reason why this happens?I have not noticed this. I will have to try it and see.

The tivo is still buffering tv evven if unit is in standby. All standby does is stop the video from going to the out puts and is only nessesary if you use a antenna for locals

Well TivoCentralDocument.brf is no different from original to patched tivo.app. So modifiy the brf is out. Back to square one..

Have you tried to replace to the Main Menu on 6.2 to include standby. I have been working on this some, but with no luck? ;)

We need to move this to a different thread (Moved) , but I would like to look into this. The superpatch does not change any brf files so I wonder why this happens. Not sure we can change it with a brf but it might be fun to try.

All I did was modify the pickprogramsdocument.brf to have that nulled out. It still leaves a blank menu entry in its place though. The .brf format hasn't been reverse engineered well enough to be able to remove that. You are going to find yourself in a similar boat wrt the standby option.

While on that note though, I would say its possible that there are two sets of documents for the tivo menus. One set would display the menus as if there is no HMO active. Another set would display the menus as if it is active. If that theory is correct, you could simply replace one with the other and have it work fine, but then if you made the one with the standby menu option active, you'd lose the music and photos menu option.

I suppose a method similar to this could also be used to enable the network configuration screen for the public superpatch. Again, assuming my theory is correct.

Looking at the brf files I don't really think this is the case. In my current brf files I see "Standy" in the the brf for the settings menu and the tivo central menu. I think there is a flag to turn them on and off, I just hope it's not in tivoapp.

This kicks ASS!
I found a way to do it!

So far I have enabled Standby in DIRECTV Central, removed Standby from Messages and Setup, and removed the Search by Title (Demo) from Pick Programs to Record.

Let me clean up some code before I post anything. It looks like after some menu items there is a setting for when it should be shown. I was able to compare the Standby under the DIRECTV Central to the Standby from Messages and Setup and found one byte that seemed to control this.

I don't think the networking stuff will be as easy. I see ${PHONE_AND_OR_NETWORK} in many places so I assume there is something internal controlling this

Is this a pretty picture or what?

Ok here it is! Superpatch67Standby.tcl
(If this is a bad name suggest a new one!)

Beta! Beta! Beta!
As with most scripts, if something goes wrong this could make your tivo unbootable.

This Script requires TuikHelper.tcl:
I made TuikHelper.tcl to help other people that want to make scripts that change TuikResources. It is very poorly documented but you should be able to look at scripts that use it and get the idea.

Superpatch67Standby.tcl will:
-Add Standby back to DirecTV Central
-Remove Standby from messages and settings
-Remove Search by Title (Demo) from Pick programs to Record

Normal usage: ./Superpatch67Standby.tcl
Reverse changes: ./Superpatch67Standby.tcl remove

You need to Reboot to see the changes.
Also if you download it I better hear if it worked or not! :)

I don't have a 7.1 system to test, but if someone could at least test it with the follwing section commented out and let me know the messages you get.
# Import Resource
if { [ImportResourceByIndexPath $ResIndex ${WorkPath}${WorkName}.new] == "" } {

If all you did is extract the tivoCentralDocument, I don't really understand what you are asking. But If you want a restore one you have saved try this.

If you use my TuikHelper.tcl you can do it like so:

#!/tvbin/tivosh

#Require TuikHelper.tcl
if { [catch { source [file dirname [info script]]/TuikHelper.tcl } Result] } {
puts "TuikHelper.tcl is required to run this script"
}

set ResName "TivoCentralDocument.brf"
set ResPath "ui/TivoCentral/"

set WorkPath "/var/tmp/"
set WorkName $ResName

puts "Searching for $ResPath$ResName IndexPath..."
set ResIndex [ FindResourceIndexPath $ResPath$ResName ]

if { $ResIndex == "" } {
puts "Error: Failed to find $ResPath$ResName"
exit
}

if { [ImportResourceByIndexPath $ResIndex ${WorkPath}${WorkName}] == "" } {
puts "Error: Failed to import ${WorkPath}${WorkName} to $ResName"
exit
}

I initially ran this a few months ago on my Samsung Directivo and it worked great. Recently I ran it on my Dad's HDRV2 and it got rid of the demo entry under pick programs to record, but it did not move Standby back to the main menu.

I tried it twice. After the first time I restored the backup, reran the hacks, then ran Suerpatch67Standby.tcl. The first time I located the program and TuikHelper.tcl in the /tvbin/tivosh directory, the second time I located them in /var/temp.

TivoWare, your script has always worked flawlessly on 6.2, though I was having trouble on 4.0.1b when I tried to use TuikHelper to remove the TiVo Central "Clip Lineup" menu item that appears when backdoors are enabled.

It would seem to me (perhaps someone can comment) that with 4.0.1b, the brf files are only used for some menus and that the equivalent of 6.2's MFS:TuikRes/Group/soma_mainmenu... does not exist. It seems that the TiVo Central UI is complied into tivoapp and that brf files are used to add newer or replacement UI screens (perhaps brf files can more easily accommodate changes and updated after the software release). All of the dtivo menus appear in the brf files, but on 4.0.1b only a subset of the menus are reflected in the TuikResources.

The fact that the no "yellow stars" was implemented via a tivoapp patch (rather than a brf tweak) supports this, but unfortunately, this would mean that removing the "Clip Lineup" would require tivoapp disassembly and patching rather than tweaking brf files?

Here is a new version of Superpatch67Standby.tcl.

Now supports 6.3/6.3a and is more configurable.
You can also remove Music & Photos if you want.
Let me know of any other menu items you might want to remove.

Use "Superpatch67Standby.tcl default" to use script defaults (+tcs -mss -sbt).
Use "Superpatch67Standby.tcl restore" to restore to TiVo defaults.
Other options: - will remove the option, + will add the option
mnp - "Music & Photos in TiVo (DIRECTV) Central"
tcs - "Standby in TiVo (DIRECTV) Central"
mss - "Standby in Messages & Setup"
sbt - "Search by Title (Demo) from Pick programs to Record"
Example: Superpatch67Standby.tcl +tcs -mss -sbt -mnp

works great. thanks for this tool!

ronny

With TuikHelper.tcl it is very easy to export and import the brf.
>TuikHelper.tcl export TivoCentralDocument.brf

Then Edit TivoCentralDocument.brf

>TuikHelper.tcl import TivoCentralDocument.brf

You just have to really careful not to mess up the .brf file. It's easy to get stuck in a reboot loop if you mess up the structure.

Here is a new version of Superpatch67Standby.tcl.
Now supports 6.3/6.3a and is more configurable.
You can also remove Music & Photos if you want.
Let me know of any other menu items you might want to remove.

Unfortunately, I am still having issues in 6.3a with this script. Here is the output:HR10-250-TiVo# ./Superpatch67Standby.tcl +tcs -mss -sbt

I had this same problem
standby missing from DIRECTV Central

FTP'd latest
Superpatch67Standby.tcl + TuikHelper.tcl to same directory
chmod 755 * "everything in that directory"
ran

./Superpatch67Standby.tcl -tcs

rebooted Had Standby back on DIRECTV Central!

Strange how -tcs worked, but it did!

common/ui/Menus/SetupMainMenu/SetupMainMenuDocument.brf doesn't exist in 6.3/6.3a. I think the new name is ui/MainMenu/TvSettingsMainMenu.brf. The prefix bytes have also changed so you can't use it as is. You can just comment it out.

Thanks goes to nova1 for testing this!

This is a test for Removing Standby in Messages & Setup under 6.3(a)
Please do not use this if you are worried it will messing up your Tivo.

The structure of TvSettingsMainMenu.brf is different then the SetupMainMenuDocument.brf used in 6.2 and I have no way to test it.

I made my best guess so be careful. Odds are that if it is wrong all that will happen is your Tivo will reboot when you access this menu. Worst case of course is a reboot loop.

So try
./Superpatch67Standby.tcl -mss
and if it is wrong
./Superpatch67Standby.tcl +mss
should restore it.

So, Any brave soul wants to try it and let us know?

Thanks for your work TivoWare.

Would it be possible have Superpatch67Standby.tcl remove Promo List from Messages & Setup (side effect of superpatch)?

I've attached my SetupMainMenuDocument.brf from 6.2 in case you need it. If that's not the right brf, please let me know.

And again, thank you for your contribution to the community.

I would like to post a quick reply to hopefully explain a couple things
I have seen here
when we say 6.3 or 6.3a it only refers to HR10-250
Sure would be nice if every post stated specifally which version the statment refers to
I hacked my tivoapp to do the 30 second skip, encryption, buffer hack, and backdoors
the only outcome to that was losing standby on DIRCTV Central and also getting Promo List in the Messages & Settings menu
It never placed a Standby in the messages&Settings Screen

As I stated above, running ./Superpatch67Standby.tcl -tcs is the only one that worked to restore the standby button in DIRECTV Central

If a newer version of Superpatch67Standby.tcl comes along that will remove Promo List from Messages&Settings page I'm willing to give it a shot!

yellow stars finally have gone away and there are only 2 showcases remaining,
will be nice to see that disappear!

Thanks for listening

It probably does need to be updated, I just installed it for 6.2a and my TiVo is now stuck in a reboot cycle. Even though when i installed it it said all was well. My guess, it can't find one of the menu items and reboots...Now i gotta see if I can issue the remove command on the hdd itself because I can't reach it through the network (it shuts off before I can reach it). Any help would be appreciated

Wow, that sucks. I guess thats what I have to look forward to when trying to fix it. I don't understand how this could happen since it is only changed if the current values match. If anyone else trys it just use the -mss option at first to see if the Standby under setup is removed. You usually will not get a reboot till that menu is accessed. Is Superpatch67Standby the only thing you did before you reboted?

Ok...so here's the scOOp:

I got it to work! I wasn't able to undo whatever screwed up so I reverted to a backup image I had made previous. I then cleared all TiVo settings and recordings to start fresh (which took about an hr). Then I reinstalled PTVnet and the superpatch. After this I was a bit cautious (getting quit tired of swapping drives in/out) so I applied the standby patch one function at a time and tested 3 of them.
first +tcs, reboot, check, everything fine
2nd -sbt, reboot, check, everything ok...although I must say it did a double reboot ; as soon as it got to the "acquiring information from the satellite" screen it quickly restarted but started fine the second time
3rd -mss, reboot, everything ok....but again a double restart
So, all those three work. But when I manually restart the system (thumbs down x3 etc) it always does the double start. Could this be because of the - options I applied? (I really don't care too much, I'm just curious. The thing only restarts when the power goes out anyway.)

For Music and The flag is not the same vaule as the others I have seen, but if you must try you can try this.:
Waring! if this is wrong it could put your TiVo in a reboot loop!

00000100h: 80 4D 0A 01 00 48 B0 85 40 08 8C 87 75 01 80 4E

As for the "Showcases" and "Yellow Stars" I don't thik we can disable them this way. On the DirecTiVos you can remove them from the download group so they do not get on your system at all. If your TiVo calls in I'm not sure what you can do. Maybe we can make a script that you can put on a cron and have it delete the clips every day after the call.

If you really want to explore removing "Showcases" and "Yellow Stars" and have a machie you can test on and can restore when it gets in a reboot loop, I can start feeding you changes to try.

Thanks for the quick reply! That change from 70 to 48 worked. It successfully removed Music, Photos, & More.

I do have a DirecTiVo (HR10-250), so I will do some more reading on the other method to remove Showcases and Yellow Stars. I ran a script called sc62remove.tcl, but I'm not sure that it works with 6.3c. 6.3 Should be working now!

Get the latest version here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52048).

In a round about way I tested it on 6.3(c). I performed a in-place upgrade from 6.3(a) to 6.3(c) and when I was done I didn't have standby on the Tivo Central menu and when I went to the Messages and Settings menu it would reboot. Here is what I did ...

bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# Superpatch67Standby.tcl -tcs
Current Software Version: 6.3c-01-2-357
Removing Standby in TiVo (DIRECTV) Central
Searching for ui/TivoCentral/TivoCentral.brf
Done!
bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# Superpatch67Standby.tcl +mss
Current Software Version: 6.3c-01-2-357
Adding Standby in Messages & Setup
Searching for ui/MainMenu/TvSettingsMainMenu.brf
Done!
bash-2.02#
bash-2.02# reboot

After the reboot I had Standby on the Tivo Central menu (didn't expect it to be there) and when I went to the Messages and Settings menu all is well.

Superpatch67Standby.tcl works on 6.3(c) !!!

No, I did not use Superpatch to hack my drive, I used a different method (using dd to edit tivoapp directly). I did use your script to edit the menu, and then I ran into the problem after stepping through a in-place upgrade to 6.3c. After posting in the series 2 forum I realized that originally I modified the menu and decided to run your script on my upgraded 6.3c. I guessed that the new tivoapp was not handling the modified (hacked) menu. I also used TuikRes to modify other things like the last day notice on the Tivo Central screen.
