HMO on Directivo Series 2

Ok... I am somewhat new to this. I have already hacked one of my directivo's. My question is in regards to version 4.x with the home media option. I want to put it on all 3 of my directivos. My one directivo is running version 6.2 and the other are running 3.1.1c. If I do put 4.x on, will it wipe out everything as if I was doing a fresh install or do I actually need to have that 3.x version on the drive?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really am unable to find a clear answer anywhere. Thanks in advance!!

I don't know if this will help you, but last week I upgraded my Philips DSR704 (Series 2 DirecTivo) from 3.1.1c to 6.2 without losing any of my shows. I followed the instructions in the following thread:

You can "Open Up" Home Media (Pictures and Music) on 6.2. I had similar questions in this thread:
