Been working on this for a couple of days now and I cannot figure out what the problem is. I hacked one of my HDVR2's (used Sleeper method) about a year ago and now that I finally have CAT5 drops everywhere I wanted to hack my other HDVR2 and look into MRV, HMO, etc. I have tried mfsbackup/mfsrestore, dd, ghost, etc from my working hacked HDVR2 drive to another drive and no matter what I do I end up stuck at the "powering up" screen. If I put the already hacked drive into my 2nd HDVR2 then it gets past that point, but I can't seem to clone the hacked drive to another drive without getting stuck at the powering up screen. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?

You could restore your original image and then use Sleeper's Tivoscripts to modify that one.

I recommend though that you use this as an opportunity to learn how to use the killhdinitrd to hack your DTivo.

A simple mfsrestore won't clone your drive. The monte method used by Sleeper's Tivo Scripts makes use of 2 operating systems on the disk. You boot the older one that is hackable and use that to load the current one that wasn't hackable (under known methods at that time).

mfsbackup / restore is only backing up and restoring the old one. When it gets to the point of wanting to load the new one (on the alternate partition) it can't find it.

I haven't used Ghost but other members report it as a no-go. (have you tried a search for Clone Drive Ghost ?)

It's time you moved to the big leagues. I suggest removing the two partition monte installed by TiVoScripts (AKA Sleepers iso) using the directions here. (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showpost.php?p=196162&postcount=3) Then you should upgrade to 6.2, threads are here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42325) and here. (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41347) Trying to use the drive as it exists is pointless. The hacks installed by TiVoScripts are hopelessly outdated. If you were running 3.1.1c, you MUST upgrade, it doesn't even support HMO / MRV. If you were running 4.x, it does support hmo /mrv, but 6.2 is significantly faster.

Thanks. Trying dolly.exe right now, this is my last attempt. If that doesn't work then I'll start looking into 6.2 from scratch. If it DOES work, then I'll start looking into getting rid of Sleeper and going about the 6.2 upgrade. Thanks for the links, PB.

EDIT: Well, dolly.exe finally did the trick after 2 days of trying to clone this damned drive. Got the 6.2 slices...on to the upgrade. :D
