Okay I have been reading and reading page after page of threads which I have learned alot form this forum and other linked forums with great help. The hard thing about reading a lot of these post is the dates involved. How can I be sure that forum support from 2002 or 2004 is what I am looking for?

I recently hacked a new 200Gb hard drive with PTVnet 6.2 and PTV's InstantCake 6.2 on my Dtivo. I am a newbie at this, yet I have learned alot in the past 2 weeks of research so I am not lazy. With that said Thanks to Weethet for the installation directions that gave me a working knowledge of what I was doing. I did not follow all of it since some of the files seemed outdated but it has been the most help so far.

Okay from looking at choices for downloading and/or streaming files from my DTivo to my PC it seems that TyTools is better than TyStudio. Is this the case? Or is the newest version of TyStudio working out for others now?

I have looked all over for installation instructions for getting TyTools running on the DTivo and the PC but have not found a set of How-To's, can anyone just point me in the right direction? I have Googled and Searched inside forums with little luck. Thanks in advance

lrhorer (username) keeps a link to his docs project in his signature. If you can't find the information you need in the Release Notes, start there.

Thanks for your help. Exactly what I have been looking for.

I will comment on my upgrades and how they worked with any issues I have in the near future.

At this point PTVnet and PTV's Instant Cake(http://www.ptvupgrade.com/) has been a blessing. I have very limited Linux skills so between these two files and the help from http://www.weethet.nl/english/tivo_dtv2_hacksleeper.php it was a breeze to learn the basics and get my DTivo Phillips DSR704 running 6.2 hacked with a NEW 200Gb Maxtor Harddrive running InstantCake 6.2 and PTVnet 6.2 with 186 hours (Variable) of recording time available. Next I will be installing TyTools 9r18 and see how much fun I can have with my NEW DTivo. Thanks too everyone that made it easier to find all the info in this site, those that created these files are a GODSEND..
