I am looking for anyone in the San Antonio, TX area that has completed a TiVo upgrade(s) and is willing to help me upgrade mine.

I want to upgrade my Series 2 DirecTiVo (40 GB) to dual 200 GB drives with all the bells and whistles. I have read quite a lot on these forums and could probably do it myself, but I would feel better if I had some experienced assistance.

Anyone in the area willing to help out? I will buy the beer and pizza! :)

Wow, I figured that I would at least get some grief from people telling me I was a lazy b@stard for wanting someone else to help me!

No one in the area interested in helping?

No one in the area interested in helping?I'm one state and 900 miles away. If you feel like a road trip, bring your tivo and come on by.

NutKase: Thanks ! :D At least I know people are reading this thread. :p

Jamie: Wow, although I appreciate the offer for help... I am thinking 900 miles is a bit out of my "area" per say. ;)

Maybe I will be lucky and someone closer to me will read this and feel an overwhelming sense to demonstrate their 'l33t haxor' abilities.

I say just give it a try! If you are confident that you can open the case and swap the drives, any other changes you make can be reveresed.

Ah well... it was worth the trouble to at least ASK for a mentor.

I guess I will have to go it alone then. I have to admit that I am nervous as hell but I definitely want more recording capacity and the ability to burn whole seasons of shows to DVD.

At least I have this forum to get yelled at... err... I mean constructively criticized... when I ask questions. :p

I sure do wish I knew a bit more about Linux but I guess you can only learn by messing up... I mean by doing! :)

Wish me luck.

Start with a new drive and don't touch your old one. That way you are not screwed when you mess up.
