I'm sure that many of you have seen that with the new 7.2 software and the new 2.2 Desktop that TiVO will be supporting putting MPEG-2 files back on the TiVO.

My first question is if anyone has gotten 7.2 and has checked out the web interface to see if the 2.2 Desktop functionality is already supported (i.e. can you only upload using the Desktop software)?

Other question is to ask if it's possible to stream to the TiVO using the new functionality, or do you have to wait until the entire file has transferred?

TIA!

I doubt you will get many answer. Beta testers of TiVo sign a non disclosure agreement agreeing they will not talk about the beta, not even acknowledge they are beta testers...

Yes, but 7.2 is also rolling out to folks who didn't sign the NDA. Unfortunately I'm not (yet) one of those. I rather assumed those with NDAs wouldn't answer, but those who got it anyway might.

Well if you have the 7.2 software and the Desktop 2.2 then all you have to do is put an MPEG-2 compliant video (helps if the extension is .mpg) into the My Tivo Recordings folder and away you go.

Think of it as MRV rather then stream as the PC will now show up in the Tivo Now Playing list just like an DVR would.

Works as advertised

So, streaming is out, and you can't start watching the show until it has finished transferring, is that correct?

Also, can you upload through the web interface, or do you have to use Desktop? This latter question is important for use from non-Windows systems...

Thanks again!

If you TiVo is hacked (and you have a Mac) you can stream even live TV.
I doubt TTG can do that, since the programs needs to be transferred, and later played back through a layer that decrypts the video using your media key.

I highly doubt you can upload programs through the web, because http uploading is not a reliable method (like donwloading).

No think of this as MRV and all those rules apply. (You can start watching once the transfer is underway and depending on the local network you might be able to watch close to realtime)

I just got 7.2 on my S2SA (7.2.0.0oth-01-2-140), since the superpatch does not yet support 7.2 is there a way to transfer from the S2SA to a Dtivo running a superpatched 4.01b software, via the PC?

I can get video from the Dtivo on the PC using tytools, and I can get video from the S2SA via Tivo2go.

I have 7.2 waiting for me (the nightly reboots gave me a hint).

Anyone know what the "oth" means?

Three versions. -elm- (Toshiba S2.5 DVD), -tak- (Pioneer S2 DVD) and -oth- (everything else)

I am guessing "oth" is for "Other"

Seems logical..
Has anyone tried the 7.1b (decryption) hex patch or the superpatch67all on 7.2? I'm guessing we'll need new hex patches and a new version of superpatch for this software version, right?
