Streaming back to Tivo on 7.2 - Plain MRV

I just ran some tests with 7.2 and my TiVoDesktop is seen as another plain TiVo on my network, so I can use MRV to pull programs from my PC.

If TiVo Desktop acts as another TiVo what's stopping 7.x/6.x/4.x Tivos from seing this as another TiVo and pulling programs from it? (besides obviously having to hack TiVo desktop somehow).

Well I can tell you that until I rebooted both of mine (one DVR & one DVD) they did not see the desktop. I also believe that part of the what allows the Tivo to see the PC is only in the 7.2 code, could just be something that they are only turning on once the 7.2 code is there but I'm not leaning that way.

I can also tell you that it is picky about the frame rate and the format or the MPEG-2 stream but both the DVR & the DVD played the AC3 audio. YMMV
