Tivo Died

My Direct tv tv just died. I had 2 series 1 boxes and they both gave up the ghost. I think Its the power supply. I'm looking at buying a new one but don't know which one is the hot setup for hacking. I can get one from direct TV for 149.00. Is this a good deal? My old ones were hacked for several years, but I probably would wait for the warrenty to expire. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

DTV will probably send you an R10 which is not hackable without performing a PROM mod. Check ebay for deals on other series 2 DTivos. Weaknees is selling barebones DSR7000 DTivos on ebay with no hard drives for only $35 including shipping.

I bought one of these from Weeknees ... works like a charm! No remote though.
