Help, Turn Encryption Off on a PTVUpgrade HD

I am using Mac OSX and will be using TivoTool and Vserver to extract shows. I got both programs up and running, and it see's my recordings, now I just need to figure out how to set Tivo to not encrypt programs!

I have done so much reading and learing in the past few weeks, i'm not sure if I'm coming or going!! I was hoping someone here can help me?

I tried the steps on the first page of this -

however when I do this -

echo -ne "\x3C\x02\x00\x00" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=10705308

it says -

list element in quotes followed by "\x3C\x02\x00\x00"" instead of space

I am using a DTivo box, with a PTVUpgrade HD in it.
