hdd jumper setting

i ve read to put the jumper back to Master to put hdd back to the tivo,but mine came on Cable Select setting,and the new hdd i use for hacking is at Cable select,and it works fine,can someone clear this up?

Cable select works fine in the Tivo if you have just a single drive and this is the default setting for all single-drive Tivos. All new hard drives come with the jumpers configured this way. Most PCs will also recognize the cable select setting but you have to make sure the drive is connected to the correct connector on the IDE bus to designate it as either master or slave.

To be on the safe side, always select either the master/single or slave (or master with slave attached in some cases) when installing the drive in a PC. Cable select or master/single will work fine in a Tivo with only one drive attached. When using two drives in a Tivo then use the master and slave settings accordingly.
