I've been on this site for a couple of days and I am amazed at all the info to hack TiVO units. I am trying to keep my TiVO hard drive in tact and hack a new drive and replace the original. While I am doing this I would like to up the capacity as well. I have been searching the forum to see if I can find specific info regarding the requirements for the hard disk drive. I know it has to be 3.5" IDE, but does it matter if it 5400 or 7200 RPM or if the interface is 40 pin or if it is ultra ATA. I would appreciate if someone could post the details or point me to a post where it was discussed.
I appreciate your inputs.
Cheers

Any IDE drive should work. My personal preference is Seagate. You can't beat a 5 yr warranty.

Thanks for the reply, I found this Seagate Internal Hard Drive (ST3300831A-RK), 300GB, 7200 RPM with ultra ATA 100 for $99.99.
Should I be concerned about the spindle noise?

I don't know about that specific model, but I use the 7200.9 series and they are extremely quiet.

I use a Seagate Hd in my SDtivo..can't barely hear it running, the fan is louder. I just received two 250gb seagates for my HDtivo project:D
