Anyone else seen this?

I noticed this recently while messing with shows in ETiVo, but it turns out not to be an ETiVo issue. I was using ETiVo to download and convert shows and thinking everything was fine. Then I started to watch the converted shows and noticed they were only 15 mins long no matter how long the show was supposed to be. After looking into this I found the following:

Downloaded an episode of Battlestar Galactica via tytool. It was just under 1 gig in size and played for 1 hour as a .ty in Windows Media Player.

I then went to convert that exact same episode using ETiVo. It downloaded the episode via mfs_ftp and the file was the exact same size as downloading via tytool. While it was converting the show to .wmv format (640x480 VBR audio/video) I checked the .ty in Windows Media Player. It had a playing time of 15 mins and sure enough stopped at 15 mins. I let ETiVo finish the conversion and the resulting .wmv file was the same filesize and only played for 15 mins.

I then used SmartFTP to download the exact same episode selecting the .ty format, not .ty+ or .tmf. The file downloaded and was the exact same size but only played for 15 mins.

Any ideas?

I'm using the S2 binaries for mfs_ftp on my SD_DVR80.

One question I do have. All the info I've seen says to run mfs_ftp from the /var directory. I run it from the /hacks directory. Would this make this difference?

Nah, I run it from /hacks too; you just have to make sure you've got a port.3105.log (or whatever) somewhere writable, with a symlink created wherever your mfs_ftp is.

Haven't seen this myself...do you have Jamie's latest unified mfs_* binaries installed?

I have the s2bins.tar.zip installed from this thread http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29459

Are there newer binaries?

I just re-uploaded them and tried again about an hour ago.

My port.3105.log file is in /hacks/mfs_ftp with the rest of the files.

Yes, those binaries have the "priority set issue":
replace /var/mfs_ftp/mfs_stream with the one bcc posted to fix the priority set issueUnfortunately, the link to bcc's build is now broken.

Here's (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=169813#post169813) the start of the original discussion on it.

I recommend this (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39487) version of the mfs_* tools.

Ok, I've d/l'd those binaries and will give it a shot.

Well so far so good... Downloaded a .ty via SmartFTP and it's 1 hour like it should be.

That did it. Even after ETiVo conversion the episode was still 1 hour.

Thanks Jamie!
