Tivo desktop music and pics

Hello,
I recently thought it would be cool to play music on my tivo from my pc. I learned that I would need Tivo Desktop software. I installed it, but probably at a bad time. I was in the process of changing my ip address from dhcp to static. The first time I installed it, it found my tivo in the server properties box. But now (with the new address) it has said, "Please wait, searching for DVRs..." all day. It found the other address in a matter of minutes. I just wondering if there is something else I need to do to get the software to find my tivo. No firewall on either end.

UPDATE:

Figured it out with some reading...as usual. I need to remember to read more before I post. My problem was I was using ifconfig to set static address, but dhclient was still running as well. I wanted to use a static address becuase a friend of mine told me that you get faster transfers from tytool with it. I usually get a half a meg or more down. He said he gets two meg sometimes, have any of you heard of this? Anyway, I reverted back to using dhcp, did the superpatch, and HMO works fine now.

Your friend is dumb. How you get your IP address doesn't affect your transfer rate.

I highly doubt a static IP address has anything to do with the transfer speed.

The transfer speed is usually more due to the network drivers that you use. Stock tivo drivers tend to be rather slow. If you load Jamie's backported drivers they'll probably give you better throughput.
