I have a Samsung SIR-S4080R set up with PTV Instant Cake
From a bash prompt I followed the instructions by AlphaWolf on how to disable the video encryption as described in this thread

http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31213&highlight=encryption

At this point I have not been able to get an FTP connection to my TIVO. I have been trying to connect with CUTE FTP but noticed that none of the lights on my linksys USB adapter light up when I reboot the TIVO. I am not quite sure what to do next. Can anyone help out and point me in the correct direction?

Thanks!

More information would be nice. The serial console output (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=234467#post234467) would tell us a lot. Also, what is the extent of the problem? Network only, or nothing - not even live TV?

I'd suggest restoring your original tivoapp to see if the problem goes away.

EDIT

Mods please delete. My post did not address the actual question asked.

I have a linksys USB200M ver.2 and SOmeone over at PYV told me that particular adapter doesn't work for some reason. It looks as though that is where my networking problem lies.

Yes, that's the problem. Details are here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45350).

Personally, I recommend either the Netgear FA-120 (Refurb units are available on eBay cheap) or the Xterasys XN-121 as more rugged than the Linksys.
