Using DTivo to record cable

Hi, i have a hughes sd-dvr40 that i cant use anymore, because i got cable and was wondering if there was anyway to hack it so that i can use it to record cable TV? thanks

Sorry, no encoder in that model. Although, I guess if you're a very skilled hacker, you could hack in an mpeg encoder so that you could use it for whatever you want. But I think that will wind up being more trouble than it's worth unless you just want to do it just as a proof of concept.
