I'm confused about the use of mfs_ftp. I set up my rc.sysinit.author to launch tivoftpd as my ftp client. If I install mfs_ftp, do I still use tivoftpd, or will mfs_ftp now become the ftp client I should use. The main thing I am trying to do is get my recording transfers through tytool faster, and I understand that the backported drivers posted by Jamie can enhance the speed, but you have to perform a patch on mfs_ftp and upload some replacement mips files to accomplish it. Please straighten this whole thing out for me. Thanks.

tivoftpd and mfs_ftp's tserver are entirely different. mfs_ftp simply uses the ftp protocol to provide a "view" of your recordings. You connect to it over a special port and it does not replace tivoftpd for "real" ftp (file) use. The nice thing about mfs_ftp is that it works with most any ftp client.

In other words, you want both.
